The Short Guide to Renting Your AlaskaVans Campervan

So you are thinking about exploring the great state of Alaska in #vanlife style? We’ve put together this page to give you the low-down on everything you need to know before you reserve an AlaskaVans campervan.

AlaskaVans Booking Policies

Payment

AlaskaVans accepts major credit cards via our online booking system. We require full payment at the time of booking. Note: For international Credit Cards an International Transaction Fee of 3% may also be charged by our payment provider.

A deposit of $1500.00 will be held 1 day prior to your pick up. This will be released within 7 days of return from your adventure, assuming there is no damage, fuel tank is full, and no other policies on the Rental Agreement have been broken, including travel on restricted roads.

Insurance

Renters are required to purchase the basic insurance package. Renters will be allowed to upgrade but rental will not be approved without basic insurance package. Insurance packages will vary amount covered based on Renters choice of package.

Damage

Renters are responsible for ANY damage to the vehicle exterior, tires, interior, and contents while the vehicle is in their possession. It is the renter’s responsibility to check the campervan prior to departure and note any damage. If damage occurs during the time vehicle in in your possession, please contact AlaskaVans with details and photographs. You must obtain AlaskaVans consent prior to carrying out any repairs. Renter authorizes AlaskaVans to charge the credit card on file for the full cost of damages plus applicable service fees.

Accidents and Breakdowns

If an accident occurs, please contact us as soon as possible. If it is an emergency, call 9-1-1 immediately. If the campervan breaks down or requires a tow, please call Alaskavans for support. If the accident involved another vehicle, Renter is responsible for obtaining the insurance company of the other driver and a police report (if applicable). AlaskaVans will supply you with another campervan, subject to availability, if the vehicle is no longer drivable. Renter is responsible for all incidental expenses incurred during a breakdown or accident.

Cancellations and Rebooking

We understand that plans can change or unexpected emergencies happen. If you need to cancel, a 50% refund will be applied up to 14 days before pick up. No refund within 14 days before pick up. A rebooking fee of $25.00 will be applied for travel within a one year period of your originally booked dates if we are notified more than 14 days before your trip. Later notice will result in a rescheduling fee of 15% (1-6 days notice) or 20% (same day notice) of your original booking amount. No other adjustments will be allowed and additional fees for more days or an increase in seasonal daily rates will apply. This is a strict policy and no exceptions will be made. This is current as of April 1, 2024.

Pet and Smoking Policy

Pets and Smoking are not permitted at any time with the vehicles. Renters will assume all costs associated with extra cleaning and fees if policy is violated.

Festival Policy

Sorry, No Burning Man Rentals but we do encourage you to check out the local festivals as long as road restrictions are not being violated, SalmonFest anyone?

Age Restrictions

Drivers must be 25 years or older to rent from AlaskaVans.

Driver’s License Requirements

All drivers must be verified and listed as “verified drivers” on rental agreement. You must have a valid driver’s license from the country, state, or province you are from. Learner’s permit will not be allowed. International Drivers Permit required when applicable.

Pickup and Dropoff times are between 9:00 am and 8:00 pm unless otherwise negotiated. Please indicate your preferred pick up and drop off time when making your reservation. Please stay in contact with AlaskaVans through email or text if the pick up or drop off times change.

Roadside Assistance

Optional Roadside Assistance can be purchased at time of rental. Services include

• Towing

• Jump starts

• Mobile tire assistance

• Locksmith and lockout service

• Delivery of fuel and emergency fluids

• Mobile mechanic service

Mileage Allowance

AlaskaVans gives you ample mileage with an allotted 200 miles per day. The total mileage is calculated cumulatively over the course of your trip. Renters will be charged $.35 per mile for mileage exceeding this amount.

Fuel

The van will be full of (regular unleaded)fuel upon pick up. Return the tank full. Any unfilled campervans will charged the missing fuel amount plus $50.00.

Citations and Fines

Renters are responsible for all citations or fines while the vehicle is in their possession. If visiting one of our beautiful state parks or recreational areas, parking can usually be paid with credit/debit card at iron rangers on site or online before your arrival. Some areas are still old school, pack a five dollar bill in your pocket to keep our state beautiful!

Add-ons

We don’t do add-ons. No extra fees for camp chairs, propane, kitchen items or extra bedding, everything is included.

Booking Policies

AlaskaVans reserves the right to change these booking policies at any time and without notice. It is the Renters responsibility to be familiar with these policies before, during, and after your rental.
